Al Khabeer is an independent publication focused on Afghanistan and the security issues shaping the country and the wider region.

What we cover

Our core coverage includes terrorism, counterterrorism, militant groups, security policy and the cross-border dynamics connecting Afghanistan with Pakistan, Central Asia and the wider region.

We publish breaking news, fact checks, analysis and opinion on developments that matter to Afghanistan’s security environment.

Particular attention is given to groups such as Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant networks operating in or connected to Afghanistan, as well as counterterrorism operations, regional security developments and the policies surrounding them.

Political and diplomatic developments are covered where they help explain the wider security picture.

How we report

Afghanistan is an environment where information is often contested, incomplete or deliberately manipulated. We do not treat a claim as fact simply because it comes from an official source, an armed group or a widely shared social media account.

Where possible, we trace information back to original statements, documents, imagery, data and other primary material. When something cannot be independently verified, we say so.

Our aim is simple: tell readers what is known, who is making a claim, what evidence supports it and what remains unclear.

Our editorial decisions are made independently. Al Khabeer does not publish material on behalf of governments, political movements or armed groups.
